Diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) at 20 weeks in utero, we knew we would have a long journey ahead. From the moment Kylo was born and in the hours following we knew he was a fighter. Having already endured so much in such a short timeframe including a balloon atrial septostomy at 7 hours old, major open heart surgery known as the arterial switch at just 13 days old, a staph infection that resulted in a partial collapsed lung requiring a drain to remove excess fluid, multiple stays in intensive care and countless X-rays, Echos, ECGS, scans and blood tests, our little heart warrior has and continues to prove just how tough and resilient he is. We celebrated victories we hadn’t thought of before and found strength when we didn’t think we had any left, all for our little HeartKid. After 7 weeks in hospital, Kylo finally came home and began settling in and enjoying life with his 3 older brothers.

With the help of the South West Metro Pirates NBL1 North Teams (the women's team are coached by Kylo's Dad, Brad), the players will be taking on the Captain America Superhero Team Challenge on behalf of Team Kylo for the month of June. Each player will take 8 Free Throws everyday for the 8 babies born each day with CHD for a total of 240 Free Throws per player. That's over 3000 Free Throws per Team for the month of June for the further 3000 babies expected to be born with a CHD this year.

Our boys also wanted to get involved in support of their brother so have decided to do the Thor Challenge by pledging to do 8 push ups every day for the month of June!

Please join us in helping to raise much-needed funds for HeartKids so they can support those when they need it most.
